Ethiopian Collaborator

Central Synod of the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus The Central Synod serves the entire Eastern Wallega Zone of the Oromia Regional State, Federal Government of Ethiopia. It is located in the Nakamte Town of the same Zone.

The Parish in Nakamte has 13 congregations and 7 preaching areas, reaching out to a total of over 25,000 church members.

The Central Synod renders the following social and development work: 1) schools K - 12 grade, 2) improve the well-being of children with special needs, lives of orphans and vulnerable children, 3) enhance livelihoods of the rural/urban poor, 4) help single mothers, and 5) support unemployed and destitute young women/girls. The Synod also provides Health services.

The Parish/Synod runs the farming projects that teach practical farming methods and also provides the farmers with improved crop seeds, grass/fodder seeds, tree seedlings, vegetable and fruits seed stock. The Parish has started a Dairy Farming project in Nakamte Town.

These accumulated experiences in carrying out numerous development works and dealing with international institutions will enable the EEMC in general and the Central Synod in particular to comfortably and efficiently participate in the establishment and effective running of the planned Technical and Vocational Agriculture Academy in the Nakamte area. TVAA is collaborating with the Central Synod, Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus of Nakamte Town Parish because of the Synod's long-standing support to the Nakamte community.  The nature of this  partnership is secular and TVAA and its board are not affiliated with religious activities of the Synod.
